Pros and cons of a tragus piercing?
January 7th, 2009 Posted in noodtarareid.com | edit1) if the piercer hits a nerve that side of your face can get paralized.
2) There is a greater chance that it will get infected.
3) you can't sleep on the side you got it done.
I'm mainly worried about #1, and does it hurt? Can I still put ear budds in too? I need as much info and #1 awnsered.
You can certainly TRY to sleep on the side you've gotten pierced but it is pretty tender and probably not advisable as you could easily snag the jewelry in your sleep and tear the piercing without realizing it. Better to pierce the side you don't sleep on. I got my conch pierced a little over a month ago and still cannot wear earbuds in the ear I got pierced. A tragus piercing is a bit different but I would assume you would run into the same problems with the equipment pressing against the jewelry. You may have issues with it for a while.
As long as you go to an experienced, licensed piercer and follow their aftercare instructions you will be fine. It is painful to get cartilage piercings but it is over so quickly you will not have much time to think about it, anyway.
1) No, there's no chance of that.
2) Mine don't appear to be infected, and as long as you clean it twice a day with a saltwater solution (1 teaspoon sea salt to 1 glass of water), it should be fine.
3) i sleep on the side i got it done on, and its fine. sometimes if it hurts i just put my hand under my head for a few minutes then it's better (:
Pros:
it looks really good.
doesn't hurt at all to get done.
Cons:
hurts if you put headphones in it
swells up a bit (mine is majorly swollen right now).
