Office: The Negotiation

  • The Office is back!

    Discuss the supersized episode here!

  • I don't think that Pam will get back together with Roy. Their little meeting at the coffee shop felt like they were shifting into just trying to be friends. The way Roy started asking about whether Pam would try to date Jim indicated at that, I think. It may happen in the future, but something tells me it won't. I think Jim's comment about her winding up with Roy again had everyone a little tense when they met for coffee, but then it was pretty clear that they weren't going down that road.

  • The opening was easily one of the best openings the show's ever had. I loved the way roy was pacing outside. Then when he attacked Jim, you just see the pepper spray and before you could say "who did that?" they show Dwight and it all makes sense.

I liked that Jim called Pam out on the thing with Roy. He has a point. Her getting back together with roy in the first place was probably the last straw for Jim. Though I disagree with him that Pam and Roy have a connection. Mostly what they have is history. Pam associates Roy with a comfortable long term relationship so every time she misses that, she thinks she misses him. Sucks for her but I REALLY hope she doesnt get back together with him again. I think a lot of people will have a hard time supporting her if she does.

Angela getting off on hearing the tale of Dwight's heroism was hilarious.

Jim finding a way to pay Dwight back - "I'll never tell a soul" was great though I bet at some point he and Pam are both going to notice one of Dwight and Angela's "moments" and then they'll make eye contact and realize they both know.

  • Most quotable episode ever.

"In negotiations, you cannot make a mistake. I made a small mistake. I wore ladies clothing."

"When I found out Jim kissed Pam, my reaction was to have long talks with him about our feelings. Roy's reaction was to try and kill him.

"I'm not sure which one Jim hated more."

    "Bring Toby."

    "Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I'd rather kill myself."

    "Come on, Toby. Let's go."

    "Where?"

"I'm gonna smack you in the head with a hammer."

*Toby listens to Ryan and Kelly.*

    "Okay."

    *Toby starts writing.*

"Oh, no. I'm preparing for the deposition."

Toby's reactions during the negotiation scene were gold.

Those aren't the kind of things Karen would do. ;)

  • Yeah, that's very true. Probably one of the most real characters I've seen on TV in ages.

  • Very hilarious episode.

  • what i love about roy is that he's so REAL - he's like no character I've ever seen in a scripted drama or comedy. One minute he's sweet and trying so hard to win pam, the next minute he's ignoring her... That's how REAL people are. TV characters are usually either mostly good or mostly bad. Roy falls square in the middle. He means well but he's got some issues and Pam can do better.

  • I don't know if I've ever actually laughed outloud that much at the Office. Easily a top 10.

Edit: I posted this before seeing Dwight mace Andy.

  • Oh man! Totally a quotable episode! I think I laughed the hardest when Roy came to pick up his paycheck and Dwight slowly grabbed his nunchuks from his weapons drawer. And Angela getting really turned on just hearing about Dwight's bravery :lol

  • That was one of the best openings ever :rofl

    "WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?"

    :lol :lol
